Keep sensitive data safe

Updated Jun 24, 2026

SheetApps protects sensitive fields like SSN and credit-card numbers.

Masking

  • SSN and card fields show only the last 4 digits in the grid and forms, with a reveal toggle while editing.
  • Any field can get the same treatment with a sensitive rule in your Rules sheet.

How to create a sensitive data field?

  • In the Rules_ sheet assign value "sensitive" in the Rule Type column for the field in the form.
  • Example: I want to make the field "Driver License" a sensitive field in my form. In this case, in the Rules_ sheet I will assign Rule Type "sensitive" to this field.

Storage

  • Card numbers are only ever stored as the last 4 digits.
  • With field encryption enabled, sensitive values are encrypted at rest in the database.

Exports

  • Exports mask these fields by default; an owner can tick Include sensitive data to export real values where allowed.

Good to know

  • Operator support access to your workspace is consent-based and read-only, and sensitive values stay masked in support views.
