Auto-number records (invoice numbers, IDs)

SheetApps can assign a running number to each new record so you don't have to manually assign one in the form.

How to auto-number records?

• In your Rules_ sheet, give the field an auto (or autogen) rule type.
• Open the app and click Change app to upload the workbook.
• New records now get the next number automatically; the field is read-only in the form.

Good to know

• Auto-numbering is great for invoice numbers, ticket IDs and asset tags.
• Combine it with a key rule type so each record stays uniquely identifiable on import.
  • Assign rule types "auto" and "key" to the relevant field
  • In Rules_ sheet, these entries will be made in different rows
